This theard is meant for people talk about it in a postive way.

You missing the point, the way I learn and other people like me is different to 90% of the population, so for the exam it would make sense as I get extra time. I got organised the extra time for the theroy exam but didn't need it in the end.

I have seen plenty of people on the road, who shouldn't be driving/riding regardless of mental ability.

It turns out that there is an alternative to the standard test for people with dyslexia and other similar disabilites, you have to ask for it in advance as the test is a little longer to allow for the time taken to explain things. Something that I was unaware of. Some people may be failing their test because they dont grasp the instuction and not because thay can't drive.

No it was on the practical - it was to account for instructions like "turn left here, turn right after the roundabout then stop where it is safe on your left".

If you suffer dyslexia you will may find getting the order of such a list difficult, nothing to do with road signs or dealing with the unexpected. The examiner went on the say that he wants people to pass and will do all he can to achieve this, but he is so highly regulated there is not much leeway or word to that effect.

I suffer from not knowing left from right and I did get lost on my bike test. However, I wouldn't class myself as dyslexic, well, not unless I could benefit financially from it

Damn thunder, you wanted to study chemistry? We coulda been chemistry buddies! TBH, I found maths hard at school aswell, and it stopped me pursuing Engineering. When i got to uni, I had to get good - so i tought myself using Foundation Maths (third edition) by Anthony Croft and Robert Davison, ISBN 0-13-045426-5, which is excellent as it takes you right through from adding to pretty hard stuff, like differentiation and everything. It probably takes you up to the end of A-level maths and a little beyond.

Anyway, I have a few mates with dyslexia and it annoys me that some people are impatient with them; I'll help them where I can...reading their reports and such. Some people though are just very lazy, I know some of my othe freinds can do better if they gave themselves more than the night before a peice of work is due to start and complete it!

Dunno if this is connected and if not I aplogise , but when I was kid, certain words triggered a colour in my mind, similarly certain numbers as well, so the word 'home' might be a blue colour or no.6 might be yellow, its kinda hard to explain and I thought it was only me but there is a name for it. Anway the main thing is that you guys have made successful lives regardless of a condition which could have held you back, well done.

I saw a program about something similar. Its quite a strange thing, but i think its also quite cool. I get feelsing about certain numbers, im not sure why, but its not as pronounced as seeing a colour when i come across the number e.g. 8.314 (what colour is that? Its the value of the universal gas constant)

Huge derail, but I cannot understand the sentiment in the comments above... I've got Vitiligo, a skin disorder which means I'm losing pigment in the skin. I once had a lady who'd been stood next to me in Boots at the sun-screen aisle, ask me what I'd recommend for her grandchild (who was sitting in the buggy she was pushing). I said I'd get Factor 60 Hawaiin Tropic for baby Faces and Tender Places - to which she replied, 'Thanks, as I'd HATE for him to end up with skin like yours'... and I replied, whilst looking her straight in the eye and grasping her arm, 'Good idea, as it's HIGHLY contagious!'... She ran, and I mean, she RAN away...

I made it up, it isn't in the least contagious. I don't think responses like mine or anyone's where they use 'one-upmanship' are smug, I think it's called asserting yourself and displaying a higher intelligence. I'd rather do that and just seethe to myself than punch someone or call them a name and lower myself to their level of insensitive ignorance. Just my opinion.

Ah but you were out shopping, not on the street carrying out a job in which you are supposed to appear professional to the public.

But good on you......

you have done to the thread you have.....Could you leave this alone plz, make another thread if it bothers you and talk about it there, this theard ain't for what you seem to want to talk about.

Yeah its does effect everyone in different ways as well, would be interesting to see what ways people have found around it.

Yeah I got a computer for college when I was doing my degree...but I would rather not have the issue in the first place, my life would be so much easier without it!
