Re: Best Track Day Tyre
Actually D211 slicks are the road tyre but just without any tread moulded into them. The reason I use them is that they last longer than the treaded version! I go through them at a rate of one front to two rears.

Re: Best Track Day Tyre
They need to fit your year and model, but these things are often more generic than you'd think.
The easy way to check is to look up the part numbers for your front & rear wheels and see what other Yamahas use the same parts code. You should definitely be looking at several years of the R6, but you may find one or the other wheel appears on something else too. The curvy rear wheel for instance is I think the same as the pointy rear wheel, but the spacers and bearings are different. So they're not quite plug & play, but can be adapted to fit without modification of the wheel itself. Jambo

Re: Best Track Day Tyre
Check brake rotors too. Sometimes you can swap your rotors onto a different years wheel, sometimes not, and if the diameter or spacing are different, you get into moving your calipers around on the forks.
Yamaha used to be very good at using the same parts on different models, sometimes for many years, but it's been a long time since I swapped Yamaha parts around, so I don't know it they still do that. Last edited by wideguy; 20-08-13 at 08:31 PM. |
