Sorry to hear this mate, bike ownership (especially at the top end..such as R1's) can be fraught with hidden issues that can be expensive and sometimes lethal. Good thing you noticed it and can sort it. I'm assuming the swing arm being marked is on the inside? If you have evidence that it was the dealer who's done it, I wouldn't hesitate in riding down there and asking them to sort it out at their cost if it bothers you.

As a measure of safety, I'd go over ALL the important items and check for consistency and correct torque settings - calipers, front and rear axle nuts, even the clip ons...can't be too careful dude.

HIDDEN!?

Fook man, anyone not capable of spotting glaring bollock ups like this aren't competent to have a licence.

Easy to spot once pointed out, or indeed if you are looking for it. Still, the bike is now in my capable hands and will be well looked after.

Every bike I have ever owned has left my possession in better condition than when it arrived, even with a 2009 R1 it appears that will again be the case.

It is still a stunning bike.

How're you finding the suspension on it (naturally it'll be one trillion times that of an SV) but a lot complain that the 14B has cheap suspension components, the lads over at www.yamahar.co.uk are great and some stupidly knowledgeable types over there!

Compared to stock SV suspension..... night and day. Compared to my race prepped SV650 with Elka race shock..... average.

Seriously though, its all relative. I could spend £10,000 on suspension and there would still be upgrade possible. The R1 is perfect for what I need right now.

It had a small handling problem that I suspected was down to tyres squaring off. Looks like the rear wheel was probably misaligned, sorted that and it feels great now. I'll set the suspension up properly when I can be arsed

Ha, you're right. No end of money could be spent really, my friend's buying Ohlins up front and a TTX for the rear and some weird ass brakes I've forgotten the name of...will find out for you later, they look amazing though.

Oh and some carbon fiber wheels. Cos, you know, it's not bling enough as it is.
