Depending on the charger, it might not be up to recovering a truly pancake flat battery. They need quite a big boot up the backside to get them going again even when they're not beyond hope.
Running it will be a better bet, but even then the battery is likely to be degraded after being flat for a significant period of time. Still, you've got nothing to lose, so just get the charger on and cross everything.
