Well to go against the general consensus I have have to say I think it's a good idea. When I had the SV650 I also had a GS125 which I used for the commute. The 125 makes a lot of sense if you are riding in constant traffic or need cheap transport. £15 tax, the insurance was practically given for free on the SV policy; from memory I think it cost me £18 a year to add the 125. In terms of wanting more power I haven't found it to be and issue. The 125 would get to 50 quite happily and is still quicker off the lights than most cars. Tyres used to cost about £60 a year, a front and rear for less that a SV front, it makes alot of sense.
They are a piece of pi55 to ride and cos they are so light you can chuck um about through the traffic with ease.

The GS125 died a few years ago when it had an altercation with a Nissan Micra in your typical SMIDSY incident. I now have a Yamaha RSX100 with energy induction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many of the Soho Massive have witnessed me piloting the 100 with much murff; okay you'll never impress anyone with it but then again that's not what it's intended for.

That's exactly what I look for in a winter hack, hence me owning a 27 year old Yamaha SR250. Given to me for free as a rusty pile of crap, and I spent 300 quid totally repainting it and reboring the engine. Now it's a shiny pile of crap - who says you can't polish a turd.

No such thing as a 125 moped. Mopeds are legally classified as being motorcycles of under 50cc.

Do you mean scooter?

i've changed my mind....

125 is about right, anythings better than a 50!

my zip was nippy for a scoot, it weighed nothing went well of the line, got up to 40-50 quick enough-super unleaded defo helped!, so easy to ride through traffic very very flickable(wheelied well too!), i shall be picking up a trekker 100, hopefully sunday, my poor SV doesnt like salty roads or heavy traffic, especially after a stressfull day at work!
