Ummmmm... Not immediately, no. It will matter what and where in the system were shorted of course, at the switch end obviously it will allow the bike to ridden with the stand down, as the circuit will be as if the switch were in the 'up' position all the time. If it were shorted on the other side of the various bits of control then it might be possible, for instance, for the bike to be started in gear, (or whatever), as the starter inhibit would be bypassed.
Of course all of these 'problems' will be obviated by the addition of sense. Which is what was used when we didn't have endless bits of nannying guff making us 'safe' from riding off with the stand down etc, if we were daft enough to forget it. Is this 'dumbed down' motorcycling I wonder?

Yup, to steal northwinds term it's just clever enough to be stupid.

Just had exactly the same problem as Blue...Performed a wonderful rear end slide entering a roundabout this evening on the way to the TV meet. Swaped the side stand switch to no avail...Off to wiggle some wires under the seat! I'm guessing its a loose connedtion at the side stand relay.

Hope you get it sorted, I had to ride behind Philbut with my hazards on to get him home as his engine would invariably stop when in gear and going round a roundabout causing all sorts of merriment! The joys of a "safety" device.

Cheers for that mate. Didn't really want to sit on the drive with it running last night so i'll try it out today and wiggle stuff with it in gear and clutch clamped in (on the padock stand incase it tries to run away!)
