But i don't have a big, green, naked behemoth. I imagine that will foul itself in some way on the screen, clip-ons etc.
Oh well cheers for the effort anyhow. ![]() I'm sure there's something out there, i'm just too lazy to look at the moment.(Plus i have the sense of direction of a champion homeing pigeon) |

I bought one last summer specifically to use it in France. It didn't work out of the box and after a mind numbing rigmarole about having to test it etc I finally got my money back and bought a Zumo 550 - too late to take to France. The Zumo seems(to me) to be a better piece of kit though.

I popped into Car World this weekend to get a polishing cloth for the bike and they were doing Garmin Zumo 550 or 500 (can`t remember which one) and they were 100 quid off the current retail price .

I picked up a a NavMan N20 off ebay a few weeks ago for just over ?30
OK it's not cutting edge, nor particularly bike friendly, but it works OK I've used it in the car with no probs, and on the bike, just stuck in my tank bag (transparent top) Bit hard to see in the daylight - bright sunshine I haven't tried it with an earpiece yet as I wear earplugs (twin Scorpions, no baffles ![]() Was a bit crap around central London, but if you ignore all the one way streets and use it as a sort of Compass that points to where you're going to get you back on track then it was fine. |

Did you get one in the end Tony? Which did you buy and what do you think of it.
I need to get a european GPS unit as trying to navigate when I go on business is a pain in the rear. As I already have a UK car GPS I thought I might invest in one for the bike but cant yet work out which to get!

the following was observed. tomtom 2 is fluid on the display zumo 550 is a little jerky but accurate. tomtom 2 not got too many features zumo 550 loaded with them. tomtom 2 does not do TTS ie speaking road names Zumo 550 Does and very well Tomtom 2 rerouting slower Zumo 550 rerouting is quick and accurate. I could go on but the zumo got my vote although tomtom have now updated the software with a few more features. one feature i really like on the zumo is the fuel guage just tell it howe many miles u average and when your near run out it pops a warning on the display and gives a fuel icon , on pressing the icon it lists the fuel stations near to you . just click one and a route is created to said station. just one of many nice little features. |
