I sit and think oooooo naughty boy.....and then reality sinks in and I realise that i do that speed (not crossing double whites) everytime i get on my bike, theres no point denying it, I dont believe any biker when they say they have never sped.

I have to say though, if I got caught in banning territory speeds I would try every trick in the book to get off as lightly as possible. If its just points and a fine then I could handle it, but a ban would mean the end of my life as I know it. Hence why I'm cautios where i speed. A firm believer of theres a time and a place for it, and that belief has seen me safe for over 7 years now. Doing 100+ over double white with a cooper on your bum clearly isnt the time or the place.

Doesn't it always seem that defendants, or more likely their legal rep. come up with some dross of a story, I regret, I'm sorry, I was drunk, I've never done anything like that before, think of my children etc etc etc.
I don't want to hear it to be honest. It strikes me as if they are trying to shift blame away from their actions or diminish the impact of their crime. (not saying this lad in particular, just in general)

I see it as people not being willling or able to accept absolute responsibility for their own actions.

Oh, it wasn't me in the story, I obviously never go so fast, unless it's downhill with a following wind and I'm in a rush to get back to the children................
+1.

I had to go to court once (although my only involvement was that I assisted other officers in an arrest & transport to custody only) and the defendant was ever so sorry for his out of character actions and his girlfriend being pregnant had really opened his eyes to his life of crime etc.

I was back at court with him again some time later (about 6 months seems to ring a bell) and his solicitor was giving it the usual he has a young child, his girlfriend is pregnant which he has only just found out about etc.

Something happened a couple of months later and the "new" girlfriend got spoken to a couple of weeks later and as it was my shift who dealt with the court case and my shift who also had to deal with this new gf, she was asked her how far gone she was etc, she didn't have a friggin clue what he was on about !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

at 100mph?

not likely

but seriously, if you're going to burn it off then check who's following you before you go for it, if it's a non-descript but high-powered saloon with two men in uniforms in it and blue lights under the grill then it might be best to leave it

that said it's easier here as the BIB only use black ovtavia vRSs as unmarked cars

Police take a very dim view at you crossing double white lines.

.

<tongue in cheek>

I thought double white lines were discretionary for motorcycles.

If I get a ban, I hope it is for a more respectable speed than 106 ... give me 196 and I wouldn't have to hang my head in shame!!
