How long until you can unrestrict it?

If its only a few months i would wait to see how you feel with it then.

Not against the idea of sticking with it till derestriction either - just the spending too much money on cosmetics bit. (Although the SV is the first bike I've had that didn't have gaffertape on it somewhere)

As for the front feeling like it's going out from under you - you've already told me you need a new front tyre seperate to this thread. That may go some way to explaining that feeling.
wouldn't that also be a symptom of the head bearings going. I know its a different bike, but my black sv needs new ones, as its always feeling like this. It has newish tyres on it, and it knocks like hell....its always trying to fall over itself
merely a suggestion cause it makes me very uncomfortable feeling about the bike. And because I've had a run of probs with it, at times I want to sell its shinyness, but won't cause I know a little patience time and a little money it'll be sorted....right after the other one

maybe what I'm trying to say is, sometimes you've got to be happy with what you've got rather than what you could have, cause if you did sell this one by chance you'd always find something you didn't like in the next one and the next one........or at least til your unrestricted.
Its a conversation i've had many times with chris, cause he's champing at the bit too, he's getting very annoyed and trigger happy so to speak.. he wants more power and is obsessed with getting a Tl1000 when he's unrestricted.

ASM - November

Baph - Its the rear that needs some loving...The front feels higher up in corners, methinks that is because i'm used to Gixxer forks...

Head bearings were serviced before I bought it. Like I say, i think it may be down to me being used to gixxer front end and been a bit more lower into the bars.

TBH i would'nt bother tarting it up, if you spend ?500 on it now, it will still only be worth about a grand when you sell it,

plus..... i dont think any of your mods will improve the feel of the bike, so your probaly not going to like it anymore.

have you tried to PX it?

Personally, I'd spend the money on things that need doing, like tyres if you need them and then see how you get on.

I hated riding Liz's Ducati it was horrible to ride, it still had the orginal rubber on it and the front had gone a funny profile where it had been sat for ages in the dealer.

fitted a new set of boots and it transformed the bike from feeling leaden and not wanting to turn and not giving any feedback from the front end, into a completely different bike to ride, easy to turn, lots of confidence front the front, almost the opposite of what it was before.

If its wallowing around at the back end it might also be your rear shock or your tyres a bit flat, I found one or two PSI makes a huge difference in the bike handles.

As for the speed, thing well eventually everybike feels slow.

When I got my 125 it felt like a rocket ship, a few months later I was riding it everywhere with the throttle pinned open.

Got my SV then that felt like a rocket ship, 2 years later riding it with the throttle pinned open hard alot of the time.

Got my GSXR, still not found its limit, TBH dont think I ever will. Got on my SV feels like a piece of cr*p and really really slow.

IMHO you spoilt yourself when you rode a full power bike, I bet your CBR isnt that slow. Its just slow relative to the other bikes you have experience of, also your going on rideouts with those on full power bikes so again you are at some point going to get out horsepowered.

If it were me I'd keep your CBR do what it needs doing to it, then get it unrestricted when your times up. In the meantime learn to ring its neck really get the most out of it. You'll be a better ride when you do get on a bigger bike trust me.

Dont give up on it yet.

Dude, that is 90hp bike ... you take that restrictor out and it is ~3 times the power of what it is now ... THREE times ... its also best part of 50% more power than an unrestricted SV for probably very little weight difference ... its NOT gonna hang about!

As for the cosmetic stuff/tarty bits ... WTF don't be such a ghay and save your money for your next bike, or do a trackday on the one you have!!
