To be fair he just said 'coffin tank' ... and your right, bearing in mind I've had quite a few of the old RDs myself* and have a bit of a soft spot for them (never liked the coffin tanks ones myself mind you) I should have know better than to absorb that as 350 Ive never wanted a coffin tank, so I have to admit my RD anorak didn't really cover the coffin tank ones very much (but now you mention it yes, 250/400) ... I was into the YDS7, YR5 generation, the A and Bs too, then the LCs ... I know very little about the YPVS and the Coffin tanks as they never interested me as much as the others (I never had one and didn't like the look anyway) ...

*I used to have a RD250B, A YR5 (RD350 predecessor) and a RD250LC!!

I don't have any on the YR5, but here is a pic of me on the RD250B

And another on my LC

I'm a bit of an RD anorak, had way too many of them all for my own good. There's been a few YDS7s and YR5s pass through my hands, and even a YDS3 and a YDS6. Most of mine have been RD400s, and most of those were E or F models (29 400s all told).

I love them to bits

By the way, your 250B had the wrong clocks fitted. The ones it has there are from a D or upwards model. It was a US import too, it had a round rear light and frame reflectors.

That's just perverted!!

Have you got any now?!!? ... I got some LC pads (never used, still in packaging) RD250LC top end gasket set and a few other odds and sods I am never gonna use if you want them ... I can chuck them in the van and take them to Silverstone if they are any good to you??

If you are an RD pervert, I am just uploading an old YPM vid of mine for your entertainment!!

Here it is - me struggling at the back of a YPM pack on the opening lap (orange blob at the back at the start of the vid) - admittedly I did start from the back row and made a right hash of getting off the line (first time I had ridden the LC) and its safe to say I got eaten alive!!

Anyway, if you like RDs, that unique burble as it passes should give you a stiffy!!

Here you go

Haha, yeah, I suppose it is a bit perverted. I only have the remains of a 15K mile white/red with red wheels 1979 RD400F left in bits spread here and there. Maybe one day I'll do something about getting all the bits that are left in one place and seeing what it needs to put it all back as a whole bike.

I can't rob you of the gaskets as I don't know anyone with a 250, but the LC pads would help someone I know who runs a 350 YPM bike - thanks.

How about a YPVS/RGV combo a la Im Indoors here with black tank after the original white one rusted a hole in it. The pain tp find a replacement even in the wrong colour, why I didn't pic it when it were finished I don't know.....it ceased not long after and is still waiting for the crank?? rebuild

Not my bag - I like classics - that are like original. Seeing a 'looks like it has just left the showroom' classic bike is more exciting to me than seeing say any 08 bike however cool a bike it is

Chopping one up and shoehorning the wrong motor in it or putting the wrong forks on it etc etc to me is sacrilege

You'd have hated one of my LCs then

I don't want to think about how much that bike cost to build, but I could easily have bought a brand new GSXR 750 for the same money at the time for what I spent on it. This was taken about half way through its ongoing development - it ended up with Lockheed brakes, 34mm Powerjets, an ever higher tune, late YPVS forks, EMC shock etc.
