..with regards to the tactics side of the argument, public servers are never going to get you excited.

I'm a member of a welsh clan that regularly play in european ladders on search and destroy. That my friends is where the **** is at. Right there. Proper clan battles against people who can't even understand english (makes for great lobby conversations) where people use proper tactics to win, rather than run'n'gun to bump up their stats.

I love COD4.

Mind you, I am super excited about Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 as well..

Call of Duty 5, now subtitled World at War, will take the first person shooter back to 1940-odd for another World War II battle. The game is in development by Treyarch (responsible for Call of Duty 3), letting Infinity Ward (COD 1, 2 and the seminal Modern Warfare) have some time off and start work on their next project.
From GamesTM, we learn that COD5 will be set in The Pacific theatre of World War II; a portion of World War II where the Americans fought the Japanese and ultimately led to the Attack on Pearl Harbor and the two Atomic bombs.
The British magazine notes the inclusion of co-op gameplay as well as hopes for including terrifying enemies who use cunning tactics to outsmart you. Treyarch throw around the clich?d term “gritty”, especially in describing an opening scene where a Japanese commander stubs a cigarette out in a prisoner’s eye before slitting his throat.
The game will be released on 360, PS3, PC and Wii, and will run on the Call of Duty 4 engine – even the Wii version which promises to look closer to its PS3/360 counterparts than any other franchise.

PC and 360 servers are different.
