Last year at TT time one of the lads fireblades had gone pop so he picked up a scabby old GPZ. That blew all it's oil out on the way up the M6 to the ferry to the IOM.

We had 10 days of pi$$ing ourselves watching him pogo around on it. It was even better when he out rode 2 fireblads and an R1 up over the mountain - it was brilliant.

Can't really help you woth your question, but it certainly doesn't stop you riding.

Sorry to hear about your self inflicted wound Northwind. So does that mean you've still got the little OEM cr@pflap fitted?

Just had our Ohlins serviced by Steve at Jordans. 170 quid which included a new spring(35quids) because the previous cowboys I used fitted a shorter one and didn't service it to boot by the looks of it.

Shock with the new spring and the "cowboy" one for comparison.

All the seals etc. Steve sends em back to you.

Surprised you didn't fit a rubber grommet where it fed through, but while it is off get it overhauled/serviced then back to super duper suspension Dammed annoying when it is something so simple and I have learned this through the number of times people have re-routed air or fuel lines on trucks without grommets or at the very least 4 or 5 winds of insulating tape where it is likely to rub through

I wouldn't use it, don't forget the oil will get thinner the more the shock is used and may leak more.

Do I really need to reply?? ... I think you know that I'd have no qualms in using that for a day or two!

The bang would have been the nitrogen gas escaping ...

It's been there for ages and never an issue before- I cut a 2 inch halfcircle in the top rather than passing it through a tight hole so it's had more than enough clearance, but I went back to standard dogbones and moved the reservoir a while back and it never occurred to me to recheck the clearance after I'd shifted it...

Pete, aye, the stock piece does the job well and it's not too ugly so it gets to stay, it might end up the only stock part I'll get the shock rebuilt by Ktech most likely, they did a fine job last time for much less than Jordans, or maybe ERS up here.

Northy

I did a trackday with an empty rear shock. I couldn't understand why my rear wheel was bouncing about and tyre wear was unusual (I blamed them being ContiSportAtttacks and still hate them). It was scarey but I didn't come off so I'd say on the road you'd be OK.

WP renewed fit seals and re-filled for £100

svrider.com has a thread on how to fit shocks that have fixed resevoirs (kawa &gixxer) without cutting the battery box. all that cutting malarkey stopped me from doing the mod before. i'm waiting for my kawa 636 shock to be delivered.
