96p........just over 1 year ago fuel could be had for 84p a litre, I found a receipt for sainsburys the other day to prove it.

I remember the days when it cost me ?20 to fill up, and it was about 50p a litre and that was only 8 years ago.......for the older guys and girls it must have been about 1 shilling?

I started to learn to drive in 1997 I remeber petrol being 56p a litre back then and struggling to find money to fill the tank as a student, I think if I was student now I would struggle to have a car and afford to live, that was only 10 years ago for ffs. Its more than doubled in 10 years along with everything else!

I paid ?60 for 50 litres in a BP service station the other day. There was no price on the display and it turned out to be ?1.20/litre! I felt robbed!

Its just shocking. i have only ever filled my car from light to brim once, That was the week i bought it. It cost ?51. I reckon its going to be somewhere near the ?75 mark now!

It is shocking. The problem being though as pointed out, the juicy motors are now going to be worth naff all. Its fine our oh wise an mighty government saying, buy smaller cars, but when your car is worth about ?3.50 and pople not having any disposable cash, how can you buy a car? In extreme cases, no oen will be able to buy thier new cars, therefore no one would buy petrol, orad tax, car parts etc, therefore they would loose even more money over time. Great!!
