It's all well and good to say Motosliders are 'better' than R&Gs but if you go somewhere else on the net, or even on this forum, you will find loads of people who will tell you R&Gs are the superior product.

I think people need to emphasise that what they are saying is in their opinion, not hard fact!

I have the motosliders, luckily not had to call them into action yet, but the thread I started a few months ago about sliders has some good photos in it showing problems with weaker ones after an off (not mine)

http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=101298

Hope that helps

Also - the motosliders were still cheaper than most from the UK and that included International shipping. Nate who runs them was very good with dealing with questions and one set that appeared to go missing, which turned up about 3 weeks after everyone elses. Top bloke.

I disagree, do you really want every single sentence on the internet followed by "IMO"? It should be obvious that these are statements of opinion. But here's hard fact- the R&G bolts which bend are M10 compared to Motoslider and GSG Moko's M12, which have about 40% greater cross-section area and so are massively stronger. They're also a lot cheaper.

You'll certainly find a lot less people recommending R&G for the SV than you will Motosliders, even on this board where Motosliders are still a minority product. Instead of looking for positives- because everyone recommends what they have themselves- look for stories of the bungs bending and falling out- then try the same for Motosliders or GSG Moko. The reason I got Motosliders after being disappointed with the newer R&Gs was that I found literally no stories of motosliders failure, not a single one. And this is the internets, where you can find bad stories about ANYTHING. The pics in the other thread are mine, 2 very similiar crashes and just look at the difference.

R&G make some very good products... I like their bar ends and can protectors too (though I think nobody ever fits the can protectors before a crash, they fit them after to hide dents!) and their products for other bikes are often great (the IL4 ones almost all have shorter bungs, where the M10 bolt isn't such an issue) But they've had 2 cracks at SV protectors, the new ones are OK but the old ones frankly sucked.

+ 1, it is obvious that ever post made is going to be a personal opinion. Northy is right about the Motosliders, there have been no bad reports or failures to date!

Yes R&G make good products, I have the bar end protectors (as Northwind mentioned) fitted to my bikes and they seem to be the best on the market, crash tested twice. However R&G have failed twice to make a good set of crash bungs for the SV, and for them to make a similar set to Motosliders or the old JHS ones would be them admitting to that, hence why they haven't changed! The M10 bolt is one of the failing factors of R&G's, it is not strong enough. The shape of the bung has been criticised too, but I can tell you that even with a straight bung the bolt will still bend. I have tested it many times, once personally, with race bikes and the test proved it all!

A lot of this is all down to R&G having a great reputation, they do but not with SV's!!! I would recommend any of there products for any bike, just not their crash bungs for the SV!!! A lot of people will get upset about this, a lot of people don't like to be told that a product they invested in is actually less Superior than a product at 2/3rds the price and cheaper to get spares for!

Motosliders have a 100% record, do the maths!
