Opinions on occasion do differ. I am still content with my own view, just as the rather rude FS is.

No, you don't, it's racing and we have to applaud people that are prepared to "go for it", it's what makes it so entertaining.

In this case, though, Checa misjudged the move. Whether his error was attempting it in the first place, or simply misjudging the grip available to his front tyre it was his mistake entirely, therefore whether anyone else was injured doesn't really matter, if Checa did that sort of thing repeatedly he would get a real talking to.
The fact that it's an isolated incident doesn't make this crash any less reckless/careless and I think he realised his error and is remorseful.

Just a bit too eager to win his first WSB / Home race, it was a bit of a lunge from a long way back.

All credit too him though for an awesome ride to come through the pack and catch Max. Perhaps on another day he might of been a bit more mindful of the state of his tyres and settled for the 2nd rather than the DNF

Thing is Pedro, it wasn't a small missjudgement. Braking where he did Checca wouldn't have made the corner, hence he crashed. He didn't turn tighter to avoid max - he was past him. He turned tighter just to stay on the track - which if he'd managed he'd have gone so wide and been so far off line he'd have had to open the throttle so late he'd have been beaten to the line and lost anyway. All in all, a stupid pointless manuver.

He didn't DNF, he still got 5th.

I fully accept the counter arguments presented. Sound reasoning indeed, I am though,(possibly it's the wild streak in me?)still unwilling to condemn Carlos. Regretable as it is that Max was hurt and did not participate further.

Fair enough. Hard to do if you've spent the last half hour cheering them on

Well I enjoyed Checca's grit..... shame it went t*ts up, but thats racing spirit, he went for it, and I would expect nothing less from a pro racer

Hmm, I think it was not the move of a good professional rider, despite Checa being just that. If anything it was a moment of madness. In the grand scheme of things a second place was a great result.
