That'll do the job nicely. A little more fancy than the ?2 one I have, but still.
![]() Nice price too. |

Checked the rev counter and that is working perfectly this morning even though the speedo has packed up again.
Worked fine on the way home last night. |

Baph have you got your wires crossed here? (ehehehehe)
SV alternator has the crank position sensor integral to it, it would be very lucky to find another one to fit. Are you sure you're not thinking of the regulator-rectifier?

Its probably not of any consolation but the problems you're experiencing are exactly the same as mine.
The speedo has been jumping around a fairbit recently but finally gave up the ghost Monday morning. (it was ok Sunday evening). It now just displays zero. Took the front fairing / paneling off last night to get to the back of the display to see if anything was wrong but it all looked fine. I'm going to remove the front wheel tonight to see if the rotor is mashed. Have you had any luck ?? |

No luck yet, am waiting for the multimeter to arrive from maplins to progress this as Baph suggests........perhaps there is a force field in Gravesend.

As for the reg/reg, I'd call that tweaking, not butchering. ![]() PS. krhall, I've just looked on alpha-sports.com; a new stator (has coils on it & the CPS wired to it) is ?234. The rotor assembly (metal chunk that spins) is ?248. If you had to buy a part, I would assume the stator (as that would be the part not picking up). Obviously these are OEM alpha-sports prices, so relatively high. But chances are if it's intermittant it could be repaired, and I'd personally be looking for bad earths before pulling the alternator out. |

The plot thickens..........
This morning the speedo worked fine for the first 10 minutes of the ride, but then stopped for no reason. The temp, rev counter and clock both still work, but the Odometer wasn't counting the miles? The bike starts fine everytime. I now have my multimeter, so on Sat I can check the alternator. Is there any easy way to check for a bad earth? |

Just as an update, I am removing my front wheel today and testing battery with multimeter to check what is wrong with my fault (K3 speed reading all over the place like a random number generator). Will let you know what I find.

Mine is simply either working correctly or showing a '0', random number generation sounds much better.......can you get it to pick some lottery numbers for me?
Let me know how it goes with the wheel off and battery? |
