Well I guess they could just make the springs longer......shorten the stupid long spacer eh. They again, that'll be too obvious hehe

My racetech springs were longer than the stock, so I shortened that stupidly long spacer... Could a replacement spring be the entire length of the OE spring + the spacer?

just to add to the mix, progressive springs come in two types, two stage (2/3 wide coils, 1/3 tighter coils) or progressively tightening from one end all the way to the other.

I prefer the last of these two myself.

Cheers Mark.

Thanks everyone for all the answers, mucho's helpful!

Just to rewind a little to the rear shock absorber. Kwak ZX-10R was mentioned, presumably from a 1000cc bike looking at model number, does this not make any difference? GSXR 750 SRAD also mentioned, but can anyone confirm I loose tail height with this option? ....does it make any difference if i use 600/750/1000 SRAD ones?

Am i looking to get one from any specific particular age/model range from either?

Sorry folks, just trying to understand which is best and why so i can make the right choice! Then i'll answer the next time some noob like me asks!

There was no 1000 SRAD

SRAD750 is also longer than stock, increases ride height a bit.

The various ZX-R shocks I'm not sure on

The ZX10-R shock fits well into a curvy and has a slightly stronger spring fitted than the standard curvy spring. This would suit your weight much better than the standard SV spring (someone will post the table of spring strengths and shock length now ).

No doubt someone will post that a specific after market shock is a better solution (and it is) but the ZX10-R (or GSX-R) is a good upgrade and can be done relatively cheaply. Therefore I think that a ZX10-R shock is 'the best' VFM upgrade for a curvy rear shock.

My appologies for repetitiveness and all responses are greatly appreciated, BUT....

Why is the ZX10-R a 'better fit' than the GSXR? Would the increase in ride height from the GSXR, not make it a better option than the ZX10-R?
