Im sure it could be waterproofed with aid of some clear plastic bags if needed ive been lookin at them recently time to get into the 21st century and throw the a2z and road map away. I likes the look of the navman v50 its a widescreen and seems great value at around £100.

My tomttom is a widescreen, but it just takes up too much dashboard real estate, wish I'd bought the economy size one

They work fine in the clear top of a tank bag, rode around for 3 1/2 hour in the pouring rain yesterday without a problem, the old issue is bright sun on the display, but that's a problem no matter what.

I have one of these and have found it to be pretty good, to be honest I was very sceptical and only got it to find the nearest petrol station, but as you can add POI I have all the cash points/Nero's that sort of thing, mine also has a quickway of adding addresses, just take a picture (with the inbuilt camera and it adds it to the map.

I chose the Navman as it had a dedicated button on the front that you just push and it shows the nearest petrol/parking to your current location, I have a 12v socket on a lead with two clips to attach to the battery, but with 5 hours battery life I've not had to use it yet.

Cheers Mark.
