So, continue the "global warming" idea, which broadly (note stress on the word) aligns with more efficient use of natural resources which we desperately need to do regardless?

I'm not sure where I stand on the global warming thing, I'm quite sure it's being over played, but then every reasonabley argued scientific paper that comes out saying "it may never happen" is mirrored by an equally reasoned scientific paper that says "it will/it is" and I'm just not enough of a scientist to work out who to believe. What I do know however is that we're using natural resources (fossil fuels, lumber, topsoil, fresh water etc) at a far faster rate than is sustainable and that really does need curbing. Whether the scary stick used to curb this is global warming or simply depletion of everything followed by inevitable war, famine, pestilence on a truly biblical scale is largely irrelevant.

When I was younger, global warming was a possibility... now it's a dead cert, funnily enough with no difference in the knowledge available! Common sense, proper peer-reviewed science is coming in a very distant second to knee jerking media and "oh won't somebody think of the children" idiots.

However, I could not be happier if this reduced Labour's so called green taxes that just put up the price of consumption without reducing pollution at all. i.e. fuel tax is painful but it doesn't really reduce consumption.
+1 ... e.g environmental taxes on flying, how the hell does charging money reduce the fuel burn of the jet? They feeding 10 bob notes into the injectors?

This is why I'm kinda happy to go along with the global warming thing - efforts to combat it are largely aligned (not always I grant you) with more efficient use of natural resources, which we're going to have to do one way or the other anyway.
Yeah, efficiency is good, and is a natural progression in engineering, global warming or not, someone would be selling/developing cars saying "look how economical this is"

Emissions charging as another one... nicer air in cities, good thing ... charging people stupid money is NOT the answer!

The general average of the scientific papers seems to be a solid result, they're dead certain that they don't know!

So, untill it's proven, which it certainly isn't, all the "green" lot are jumping on a big fk-off bandwagon, to either tax us, rob us or to look like they give a fk. (eg celebs driving prius's)

God damn hippies.

God damn hippies.
And, ironically, distracting us from other 'green' matters that humans are unquestionably responsible for, like the continuing reduction of boi-diversity due to deforestation etc

Despite having pure contempt for most environmentalists, deforestation etc really does need attention. Guess hollywood likes it's mahogany interiors on their G-5's eh?

If they were still colonies then we could control it far easier, as well as solve a lot of the humanitarian problems.
