yea, definatly saeed, i wouldnt like to be in the middle of a flight with a drunk person, or even worse, a group of drunks. Its not like we can throw them out, or I can get off mid-flight and wait for the next plane!

Plus I don't want to sit in the remains of your old kebab when you decide you don't like it, either because you had no where to put it, or just bought it back up. The same with drink, when I was a nipper it was known that you don't eat on the bus. Its all me, me, me rather then just polite and sociable behaviour.

but if we are going to a concert or somthing we will take cans on the bus, so, in answer to your question, no i would not totaly abide by the drink ban on the tube.

yup, but thats the world we live in; everyone is occupied with themselves.

Who last had a conversation with their neighbours? Not many people do nowadays. Next door maybe, but never anyone else

Well we can always do what they do in NYC, when you buy liqour over there its normally given to you in a brown paper bag, so you just drink it on the subway like that.

Which I did when I was 18 to go to see the Yankess play

So i guess the same could be done here.

Being serious alchol, is such a drain on resources there is a regular drunk idiot where I work, who normally manages to tie up an amblance and 2 officers everyday a total waste of time, he once decided to *hit the amblance, even though a toilet was closer total scum. I think this is something Boris should do something about.

Bit hard for me that one - they all speak russian/kazak.

Actually, I used to speak to the neighbours to the left & right of me and the little, old lady down the street. People aren't that anti-social in London - despite the popular misconception in the popular press!

i don't like people drinking alcohol on the tube very much as per the reasons matt stated. eating food however, i couldn't live with not being allowed to eat on the tube!! i am pretty much always hungry (and still scrawny!). you can't really ban food on the tube, but it isn't fair that somone should get on with something that stinks. although the problem you would have here is then defining what is a 'horrible' smelly food and what is a 'nice' smelly food. everybody would have a different opinion on this and you really couldn't police it fairly.

bottom line is, as has been said, there are too many inconsiderate ar5eholes out there

It would be really great if everyone was considerate enough already to mean that this sort of ruling isn't necessary. But they're not, so that's why it's been brought in. Though it's going to be a very tricky one to enforce!

I actually don't think it's a bad idea to ban drinking on the tube, as it goes some way to raising the idea that intimidating drunken behaviour isn't acceptable either.

The reality is that this sort of stuff does put people off travelling, and some are really quite scared by it. IMO it's part of the whole society going down the pan thing - noone cares about anyone else, and we all end up feeling intimidated by yoofs, etc.

Some very valid points there. It just seems to be getting a bit stupid with what we aren't allowed to do nowadays. What I find really silly about it is that a person could have a can of larger on the tube on the way to a night out or a mates and yet the amount of alcohol that would be absorbed into their system might be tiny compared to the sort of people that get the tube home drunk, and their behaivour would reflect that. Rather than picking the drinking thing couldn't the Mayor have pledged to cut down on intimidating or anti-social behaivour altogether? That would include the groups of kids listening to music on their phones, the pshycotic nutters and the scary people due to drink (either after or whilst consuming it).

I think Boris has done this as a quick way of getting support but one that will have very few consequences and yet make the masses look at some responsible people like criminals.

I'll suck it and see I think. (Maybe through a straw)
