Everything you do on a computer is tracable, should the person investigating want to find out badly enough.

In days gone by, large electro-magnets were the way to go, but nowadays, you need to do worse than that. Also, don't think about a sledge hammer, no point, you'll only pull something & the data is still recoverable.

If you don't want data to be recovered, I have a tip for you... dismantle the hard disk (completely), remove the magnetic discs inside (mounted to the spindle) and feed your paper shredder (but make sure it's a cross-cut one - I kid you not, a straight cut shredder has been used in the past, and that even had data recovered!!)

EDIT: Oh yea, before someone mentions over-writting the entire disk... 2 words, magnetic ghosting.

Only way to be REALLY sure is to take a torx bit screw-driver and remove the platters and then smash those in to bits

Ive used gomusic, when it was called somthing else about 3 years ago, but talking to a techy who said that their has been problems with card fraud off some russian sites, which led him to cancle the card he used on gomusic.ru

So Im not really sure if I want to use a Russian site.
