Going back to the original point, do you think it would be best to go for a cheaper ?1500 bike or spend a bit more?

Where would you recommend looking for a bike?

I think I will probably join Bemsee as I'm from south east London, so I think it is probably the most locally based club.

Cheers
I think with 25 trackdays under your belt (that is prolly more than I have ever done!), and 55s, perhaps 54s feasibly attainable already, spend the full whack on a 'better' bike as you will probably be quick enough to start noticing the benefits. I don't know how tight your budget is? But if buying a 3k bike means you will be scrimping on tyres all season, I'd go for a cheaper bike and fresh rubber every round

Places to look are http://www.motoforum.net/index.php?showforum=13 good old eBay (as long as you know what you are looking for/at and look at it first). They would be my two main hitters.

As you can see from my sig, I have a curvy trackbike for sale, but in all fairness, its virtually standard and I think you need a bit 'more' than that.

One of my mates who I share a garage is selling his bike. The bike is top notch and can vouch for everything he says on the ad. Its not the prettyest thing but its only cosmetics. £200 to put right. Very fast bike!

Cheers for the help , unfortunately I won't be in a position to buy a bike until the end of July or after I have sold my current bike.

Cheers

I paid 2800 for an EX steve jordan curvy model, Came with wow's and a transponder as well as a few levers etc. So far ive put it 3rd in the rookies and scored a top three at every round. The rookie championship leader is also on a curvy model so i don't personally think it matters. Ours are meant to handle better than the fuel injected but the injected have more grunt.
I'd buy on a budget and use the rest for spares it's more about the rider than the bike. I snapped the crank at Brands and ended up having to fit a new engine so be carefull of the torque if your used to riding inline fours.

Bemsee is the best club i reckon, just so competative aswell,
I would aim for around 2500 and try and get as many spares as possible. Brake levers and rear sets are the first to go.
