yeah it should be loose, its an ajusting screw to change the idle speed. Hmm this is very strange, is the revs increasing a sudden increase, or gradual over a period of say 7 seconds? Have you tried riding it like this (or left it running at this high revs), and if you have has it been cutting out at all.

(if its been cutting out when riding and is a gradual increase it is deffinatly a choke issue, otherwise I'd say its an idle or throttle cable issue)

If I leave it in neutral for awhile then rev up to say 3000-4000 PRM the engine sticks at that level until I swich it off, I have tried riding with it, be had for me to explain but sounds similar to the choke issue. it seems almost to rev high when I let it idle it does cut out.

I've also just read in th manual about the fast idle adjustment / indicator and wandered if this could effect it any way?

MAnaged with some help to get the tank off etc and had a look at throttle cables, played around with them at the top and below srayed with oil with no real improvement, and now think that it is the atomatic choke assembly, wil be taking it into Falkirk garage (name escapes me at moment) to get some diagnostic done to see if it is the choke or not, if it is the choke assembly anyone know how much etc?

When my choke cable was sticking it would idle regular then to about 3000rpm and then sort of stick there. I took the tank off, propped it up with a broom and tried to dislodge the choke cable, it popped out and reset itself. I know you have an auto choke system which I know nothing about but it's worth doing what you did with the throttle cable to the choke cable- pull them out and reset them, oil them a bit.

Is that the first year for fuel injection? I wonder is there is an air/fuel sensor that's run amok?

I think it is the first year, I haven't got the manual with me at the moment but where are the sensors located and I'll check them tonight.

Cheers for the advise.
