It takes a long time to come to terms with our losses over the years. My mum died nearly 11 years ago and I still miss her.

That coupled with the loss of virtually all my close relatives of her generation over the last 10 years, including my father (2 years ago), left me feeling shell shocked by the end of last year and it is only now that I am coming to terms with all these losses..

I have found that talking to someone about the person who has gone helps because you remember all the funny things that made them who they were and then they are never really gone. Your talking about your cousin is just the same.

People touch our lives and we touch theirs for such a relatively short time in the scheme of things that you have to make the best of the time we spend together.Remember them then they are never really gone.
I read somewhere that some believe that saying the name of the person who has gone disturbs their rest but maybe it is the opposite and they rest easier because they know they are not forgotten.

Matt - even though I haven't been through this I can imagine the hurt, pain and confusion you have been through.

I have been in the position of your Nan, with a stranger, with my job and had to sit with the family and explain to them the circumstances of this persons death. I have seen how utterly destroying it can be.

I bet it still feels like yesterday in some ways but I am so glad you are at the stage whereby you only have good memories and the confusion and pain are subsiding, he will be watching over you proud mate .......

Org'ers unite ...... it's good to share and that's bought a tear to my eye (soft Shell) xxxxx

I'll raise a glass to both of you tonight xxxx

Sometimes it does feel like yesterday; sometimes it feels so long ago. The stuff we did together feels like yesterday. Sometimes I worry I'll forget what he looked like, or how his voice sounds. I don't want to forget that stuff, but its hard to remember when theres no reminder. I don't have a picture of him, so i have to think really hard and eek out the detail from my mind

I gotta say, as sad as funerals are, they are really beautiful events. I was helping to cover up his ashes, and as i was down on my knees I looked up and scanned all the people watching; my family, his freinds. My nan winked at me and everyone looked so sad, but at the same time everyone looked...comfortable, having people around to share the pain with. Its like it all dispersed.

I think I'll be jamming out some fade to black when I get my new guitar, nail that solo good and proper...thats my time to say "hey mate, its cool now"

Hurrah for music, when words can't express how you feel, a guitar solo will

oo that rhymed

Night all

Matt

Too true... even when no one else understands what you're saying.
