Just a question, why are you selling the engine? and how many miles has it done?

That mate, is very true, heard quite a few cases of it. But I would've thought the wear would be around the insides not the outer shell.

I retract my earlier statement about the insides after a bit of research, overheating can cause cracks in the casing, so if the front cylinder is being starved of course the engine will be overheating, causing your cracks, but maybe it started on the inside, hence you didn't pick it up...

All drivers should properly maintain their vehicles to prevent overheating.
Please ignore me if I am talking boll0x lol. Not much help to the OP so will shut up now

This was my spare engine at the start of the season. I now have a slightly newer K4 engine as my spare so I no longer need it. I had a miss hap drilling out the Ehaust bolts on the front cylinder head on my race engine so I needed to nick that cylinder head. Hence why it is missing. It had just over 9K if I remember rigthly.

Must be the conrod snapped to push that out.

Supposedly it does happen occasionally on SVs, but usually at 40000+ miles. Always on the front cylinder.

Thrown rod, K3's are the worst of the bunch for it or so I've heard.

Strip it down and find out.

The connecting rod snapping at the small (piston) end, which then gets "thrown" outward by the spinning of the crank at high speed and hits things.

I'd be interested in the knackered engine just out of curiosity.
