It is a f###ing daft idea.
Tell her to be quiet. And find some mates who know what they're on about.

Right this is how it works... if you have a 66bhp bike, and open the throttle halfway, then it's a 33bhp bike..... Moral of the story; it's only as fast as you make it go.

There's no reason why you can't restrict a bike with a full license, if you're that scared of power, but the SV is a pussycat anyway.

You don't need a restricted license to avoid death and injury, just don't ride like a total cnut and you'll be fine. The other thing is, if you do 33bhp, and get bored, as you will very quickly, then you have no choice in the matter!

I'm stuck with 33bhp for another 11 months and it's incredibly annoying.

What statistics!

Most of the young riders now on 33bhp licenses who are the high-risk ones, i.e the headbangers on race reps, don't bother with restricting bikes anyway.

I did a a DAS, mainly because i needed a bike bike to drag my fat **** along... the only accidents i have had are just falling over....
after a stint on motorway i turned off, then stopped, went to turn right, lifted foot up, but was not in gear so fell over!!!

I can kinda see where she's coming from - perhaps - maybe - possibly.

If you are the kind of loon who has more money than sense and is likely to pass your DAS and then buy a Gixxer Thou, hoon around like a twot without the skill to go with it, you are probably more likely to either a) get yourself into trouble, b) cause other road users trouble or perhaps c) remove yourself from the gene pool the hard way.

But as has been said, if you're a rider of that type of mentality then regardless what you ride chances are you'll come a cropper, and even if you were on a restricted licence you'd not bother complying with the law anyway.

So to be honest which ever way you end up on a motorbike, DAS or restricted, you could apply the old gun adage - bikes don't kill people, people kill people - meaning that sooooo much of it is down to rider mentality, focus and approach, far more than the bike they are riding.

Oh yeah - and you are a geek, just a money grabbing geek.

I agree with Gene-genie each to his own and whatever suits you best. If you can do it do the DAS test and if you are worried about the power of your next bike then choose sensibly.

A little bit of common sense goes a long way.

Does any one restirct 17 year old car drivers from passing their tests and jumping behind the wheel of an Impreza - perhaps that is a better case for restriction than bikes.

bikes are dangerous - that is a fact.
on how you ride it depends on whether you come a cropper or not. Other nutters on the road are your main danger. Do DAS and then some advanced training, give yourself as many advantages as you can.
