To further my point as to the audience size here in Spain, the following link is to the web site provided by TV Espaņa for the Moto GP fans. Crammed with info and features it is excellent. Maybe no good for many of you as of course it is in spanish,(plus not sure if the link will work for U.K. based peeps)

To give an idea as to what we get also...

Thursday:

Evening news bulletin on TVE always has a small feature as a warm up for the weekend.

Friday:

An extended feature on the evening news.

Saturday:

Screened full qualifying for all 3 classes.

Sunday:

Coverage normally starts at least an hour before first race with lots of interesting magazine type info about background tech stuff, riders, the circuit etc.

Screening of full Moto GP warm up session.

Full coverage of all 3 races.

Moto GP Club screened around mid night with interviews and analysis of the days racing events.

You only provide all of that if there is a big audience to address with it.

Hope you can access this linky, dinky thing:

The 125's and 250's are on BBCInteractive along with Qualifying.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_a...io/5345480.stm lists what and when.

I have to agree that the commentry isn't anything close to the quailty on the Eurosport team. However the interviews Suzi gets with the riders on the Grid are quite a nice feature.

Also you can catch the main race at anytime on Iplayer too (Now if only they put the 125's, 250's and Qualifying on that!)

If you want an example of the BBC's attitude towards MotoGP - go to the BBC Sports homepage & try to find ANYTHING about motorcycling - there's nothing there - no mention even in the 'Other Sports' section, & that has items about Netball & Gaelic Games* for God's sake !!

* Nothing against these sports - I just use them as an example of other 'minority' sports

Ok - so I stand (slightly) corrected !!

But, please explain to me how I record a race with Sky+ if & when I need to leave the house before the coverage starts ?
(genuine question not sarcastic - can it be done?)

As for Suzi Perry - reasonable eye candy I'll admit (if she's your type) but her only contribution to motorcycling is trying to convince everyone that Haga's nickname should be Nitro Nori

If the Beeb want a really good interviewer to do a grid walk then they should hire Randy Mamola immediately - not only does he know his subject backwards - the riders know & respect him.

I doubt Dorna are stupid enough to give BBC exclusive rights without some firm guarantees about how it will be broadcast - ie substantially better than the current BBC coverage

I don't think they would be worried about quality, rather access and the amount of broadcasting hours.

Mind you, this is the perfect opportunity to eject the whole BBC commentators team and get the eurosport guys in. I can't stand Steve Parrish and Charlie Cox, both royal idiots commentating the race, heck even I could do a better job of it. That Matt Roberts guy doesn't seem do a too bad in the pit lane, but Mamola just makes his coverage look bad at times.

Just hope that the BSB doesnt end up going elsewhere as well, as Eurosport coverage is much better than what ITV used to serve up.

The BBC have to put together a better package for the MotoGP than they have been doing so far, their coverage is embarassing. Last week they showed the race and then cut off before the trophies were even given out. No post race comments, nothing! You would never get ITV doing that with F1.

I think the BBC has totally lost its way of late, as has ITV. No more good dramas, obsession with snotty talent shows (Who cares about Joseph/Maria/Choirs???!!). They seem to copy stuff from ITV but poorer formats.

Unfortunately unless they appoint the commentary team of Eurosport, I think we'll have dumb commentary throughout the race.

Has it been decided where F1 will be shown yet? BBC1, BBC2? If the BBC have sole rights to show MotoGP, maybe, they will give their coverage a revamp??!! I mean now there are some brits starting to show promise they have good reason to shout about it! More than football perhaps?!

I agree with most of the comments here, its a bloody disaster those amateurish BBC bastids getting their lazy hands on MY sport.

Can't remember when the GP's were not on Eurosport!

Absolute bunch of fuds behind and presenting the beeb coverage. Cue lots of horrendous parochialism, (if they are not doing this already)...... even though I enjoyed the Huewen/Ryder "Foggymania" now classic WSB coverage.

No more qualifying? No more Ryder and RandyMam? Legends! Save them!

I dread to think what we are going to end up with.
