one thing aswell, i was baffeld as to why fixing the airbox problem made no difference

only to retrieve the sparkplugs and find they are already covered in carbon, since i claend them yesterday

ive cleand up teh rear, about to do the front.. proving annoying getting it out so i decided to take a break before i floor the bike

but maybe cleaning them up could fix the issue, who knows.

If they've been in the bike for 50,000 miles then maybe. However what's causing them to soot up?

Some new plugs won't hurt anyway. If not then an air leak could be the culprit. Try obscure part of the air filter opening with your hand and see if it helps.
Try turn the idle speed up to get some sort of stable level, spray some carb cleaner round to check for air leaks.

i had the same problem during the winter, kept carbing up the plugs and so on. i had the carbs balanced. hey presto. cant say this is good advice or not however it did stop killing spark plugs after that. i work at a big bike shop in derbyshire and the technician said they was totally out. if you can do it yourself..... no harm in trying

Usually find the rear will run very rich when the carbs are out of balance and the front will run hot.

I'd say for this feller do the chokes, balance the carbs and maybe a new air filter in that order.

Have you removed the choke cable from the cabs and check it?

Theres something wrong with the mixture and this is usually down to a choke problem.Id check them again very thoroughly. If not then are the carbs overfilling?
