Yorkshire folk have dinner at lunch time at they are too tight to turn on the lights to see their meal.

Over here on the nice side of the Pennines we eat lunch in the middle of the day, maybe the occasional tea with the children around 4.30 and then dinner with a special someone once the monsters have been dispatched back to the nursery.

The strange one with lunch, for some reason our dining room at work is referred to as the "Mess", We have a canteen where the oily people eat. But our dining room is the mess, yet it is actually very tidy and polished

Seems no-one is wrong http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinner But, that is on the basis that you have a large meal at lunchtime...

EDIT: And http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_time
