Toolkit is (on K5 at least) just in front of the rear tyre, accessed through a little box at the left of the bike. C-spanner is a hooked semi-circular thingy - the toolkit one is ok but a ratchet attachment one is dead handy. At the base of your rear shock will be a ring of teeth on a gradual incline, turning that ring with the C-spanner results in more or less preload on the shock. Pre-load doesn't equate to stiffer or softer, it's purely to set the sag (ie. the amount of travel the suspension uses when loaded just by itself, yourself, and pillion) - without adjusting this I'd suspect you run quite a risk of bottoming out the suspension over some bumps.
Oh and the front end will dive under braking a lot more than you're used to, stopping distances will be considerably longer. EDIT: Oh, and I didn't know where the toolkit was either till 2mths pointed it out to me at Foxes ![]() Last edited by MiniMatt; 08-07-08 at 04:34 PM. |
