My HJC FG-15 is nice and tight but not too loud, although I have nothing to compare it with really.

I ride how some people would describe as 'irresponsible' alot of the time (even though I dont see it that way), I'm not ashamed of it and thats why I bought a fast bike, not to pootle about on.....When I ride like that, I like to see, feel, smell and hear everything my bike and sorroundings are doing or it just doesnt feel right and I dont feel comfortable riding how I do.

I will wear ear plugs if I know I'm going up the motorway or long distance though, but if I'm going to be enthusiastic then its as per first paragraph.

On another note you can get specific earplugs with sound filters in them which stop sound frequency like wind noise/white noise etc but allow in voice and other specific sounds. These could be useful if you wanted to buy a helmet that you thought was noisey.

IMO music ear phones are considerably worse than standard ear plugs, as your attention is elsewhere.

+1 on earplugs. You can still hear traffic and in the long run, it's safer, honest.

Can anyone recommend any of these?

Cheers

There is a company that sell them at the motorshow, the basic purely molded to your ear ones start at about £45 - £50........Cant think of the name of the company but someone will point it out in a minute. There is a few companies though.

So you won't wear ear plugs because you feel you can't hear the traffic, but you'll wear an MP3 and have it full blast? bit of a contradiction in terms isn't it? like fizz say's once your hearing goes that's it, ditto about race reps too. I got an AGV and Suomy, ok they look pretty but as for wind noise they're are bloody awful. Ear plugs all the way for me.

As I wrote in previous post I wear ONE earphone, not both like earplugs, so I can still hear whats going on, and I never said that I always have it turned up to the max, just that I tried it to see if it would block out wind noise.

I just wanted opinions on lids as all I've ever had are Shoei's, not bothered about earplugs/Mp3 players.....my mind's made up on that score.

Just wondered what everyone uses to protect their noggin.

Besides, I'd probably forget to take earplugs out and walk around looking like a right t*t with these brightly coloured things sticking outta my ears! At least I can't forget about the MP3......

My KBC VR2 has been fantastic, but I dont have anything else to compare it too. Over time with the padding shaping to my face/head, it has got a little noisier. I notice immediately if I forgot my earplugs and will pull over at the soonest spot to put them in. I find the foam earplugs still allow you to hear well enough but cuts out the majority of the white noise, plus I find that I concentrate on riding and being alerts. I know that music would be a distraction and plus the engine is my sound system.

I use the cheap-o squish earplugs. 3 pairs for less than a dollar, they knock down the wind noise well, but let me hear traffic. No ipod for me, illegal to wear riding or driving in the states. Not that I'm a stickler on laws, it doesn't appeal to me that much anyway.
