Default Re: Dropped Bike

I dropped mine the other day, was thankfully saved by the R&G's which paid for themselves that moment.

I was out with the misses on the back in Fowey, didn't know where I was going, took a left turn which doubled back on itself up a steep hill so the camber was all messed up, got half way around and saw a no entry sign, so panicked really. Put my foot down but could hold the weight and in fighting against it quite gently lowered it to the floor, only touched the R&G, by now the misses had hopped off and we quickly picked it back up.

My main problem is that I'm quite short so have to lean the bike over to get a good foot down, and once its leant a bit it only wants to go more, specially with the weight of a pillion.

If you have a similar problem with height do a search on here and you'll find out about your options for lowering the bike or seat.

The only damage was a broken brake lever, i had to ride the bike home using only the back brake.

I have now had the brake fixed (got a new lever from ebay and it took about 2 mins to fit) but im quite nervous about riding it again! Just wondered if anyone else has had anything similar happen or am i just being a wimp.

Thanks.

I see you're in Northumberland. You'd better head along to the Pennine Massive and join us - you're very welcome to join me for a ride some time soon - It's good to ride with other people.

Don't feel bad. I've had some close calls, so close, that I've had to take a short break and smoke a ciggarette just to calm down. Get back in the saddle and learn from what happened. Ride safe!
