Incredible. I can see trees in the middle of nowhere in Australia. What a huge amount of effort for something that is rather useless haha

Wow, that's great.

I've just been using the drag feature to scan around looking for a packet of ciggies I dropped near the Sydney Airport entrance in 1993. With the price of smokes what they are here it might be worth going back for them if they're still there.

They seemed to have covered a load of Australia and the US. Not much action in the UK/Europe except the Tour de France route. If you zoom out anything blue is covered!
A whole new meaning to "I can see my house from here" I guess

Yes I am aware of that, perhaps I need to seperate my statement a little:

Genuine excitement that I can see a tree in the outback.

but, aside from Lozzo finding a pack of ciggies somewhere, what point does it serve if you can walk up and down a street somwhere else?

Because you can go and hang out in da hood, without the fear of getting shot. Duh!

Seriously, I can think of a load of reasons. How many times have you arranged to look at renting a house/flat, only to turn up discover that the area/street looks like a war zone?

If you looking for directions and use google (which I do a lot) then you can check out what a particular junction/road/whatever looks like in case you miss it.

Just visiting places that you have never been - for instance. I really like the idea of living and working in NZ and San Francisco and although I have been there on holiday and seen the sites, I have never really checked out living etc.

I think you'll find it more useful than you think

hmmm putting it like that, i can see a very sensible use for it. I myself would probably use it for such things as landmarks in a strange place etc, as women don't use maps apparently, but direct emselves by stuff they are likely to set their eyes on.......like pubs, supermarkets petrol stations.....I have no idea what so called experts could be on about
