is it worth doing on a mildly tuned (system and filter, K3 cams possibly later) engine zadar?

not in my opinion.maybe with built motor and fancy fuel.
I used it on very built motor but for retard, not advance. |

I always felt the advancer gave a nice low-end boost, but then I was less choosy back then and it could have been Modder's Disease... No idea now, I might take mine out and see if I can tell the difference.

That'll be why you never noticed a different ! Retarding the ignition will make it bang far too late when the piston is allready on it's downward stroke. You just detuned the engine. |

Ah, you slot the pick up not the trigger. Now I'm with you. Which way do you go ? Clock wise I imagine if an anti clockwise adjustment on the trigger advances. Any body got any pics ?

Yeah, it sure is a black art. You must have been running a high compresion ratio ?
I used to have a problem with pinking on an A+ turbo engine I built. I was using 10.5:1 compression to negate some of the turbo lag from running a Garrett T3. Worked great untill I blew the piston to into a million bits. It would have been fine if I'd left it running 0.5 bar but I couldn't resist playing with the boost pressure. Damn cabit mounted bleed valves !! |
