I was surprised at how noisy my Arai Astro-R was compared to my old KBC helmet - but as I wear ear plugs it doesnt bother me that much - also now its broken in I absolutely love it
![]() I use these ear plugs and have done for two years now - very pleased with them http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ear-Plugs-20-p...em?refid=store

As others have said Arai are great lids, just make sure you have ear plugs in, the difference is amazing not to mention they save your hearing. I am know for sure I have great hearing better than most at my age.
I have an RX7 which a great lid, it is full of vents. If your cold why not just close some of them, you don't have to have them all open. I had the one on the top of lid open and eyebrow vents. The rest would be opened on how cold ect it was. But I have tell you a gust of all at 5am in the morining open the bike up, really does wake you up! |

I took it back and there was a problem with two of the vents which had problems with the flappy bits not retracting properly hence the wind/noise. I also noticed a slight mark which was another reason to change it. i ended up paying a little more and got a shoei xr1000 crytic tc5 and a wind whistle kit thingy total 240 which was a good saving and the Lid performs very well and it's soooo comfy.

I've got an AGV head myself and am due for a new S4. They seem to get good reviews and are not that expensive. I'm all for earplugs but have sensitive ears and get infections like crazy if I don't use disposables which is getting a bit costly. So I wear plugs for long runs but not for short runs. I've found that having a scarf or something tight underneath the helmet cuts wind noise drastically.

I'm happy with my Shoei Raid II. V good helmet and reasonably priced. They do cheaper ones at bike shows, like the BMF Tailend of the NEC. Plain colours are cheaper, I wanted a matt black one so it suited me. But yes earplugs are good for when you go faster. I use Max sold by Motrax, 60 pairs for £9.99.
