ha, yeha, i have that problem with my vw transporter ,the alarm just goes off when it pleases.
fortunatly, its not happened for a while.

its interesting that some of you say its not worth the bother. how would you suggest to protect your bike, when, say in a car park in town or something? just a chain? are the £50 chains any good? im sure theyre not fool proof, just a slight deterent.

Most chains aren't much cop- even some very expensive ones can be cut in a matter of seconds with big bolt-cutters, which every bike thief has. If I had to leave mine out overnight regularily I'd probably get an Almax chain, best there is, but very big and heavy. As it is, i rarely leave it out so I have a terrible Oxford that you could probably chew through, which deters amateurs and kids. For protection against bike thieves, i rely mainly on the fact that there's not actually that many, and most of them are busy stealing dirt bikes and race reps, and I have insurance.

My meta alarm is fine. Even after an upside down. Was told that they can play up after one of them, but its been fine. I work nights a lot, and have an 'ONguard' mahhhooosive heavyweight disc lock as well as the alarm. When I bought it couple of years back it was thatcham approved. On top of that I have a bike babysitter in the shape of al those outcast smokers in the bike sheds
