That car is the same one that Rossi was going round the track in in that video with Andy Ibbott that was posted a few days ago. It's his sig on the dashboard.

I saw this story over at gixerjunkies - a few people on there reckon that it is a bit fishy too. Obviously it is a bike made from a great collection of parts that may or may not have been used at some point in the season by Rossi's crew, but it's probably not a whole bike that finished a race. People are pointing to missing stickers, the exhaust hanger covering up the termi sticker on the exhaust etc.

Nice find though!

Couple of interesting points from a different forum. One of the racers got to ride Rossi's M1 at Valencia at the end of last year and commented on how the unfinished look of the steering damper is how it actually looks. Also, a suspension guy says that is an older version of the Ohlins twin tube shock and the fork has different channels in the axle castings i.e older.

Anyway.......I think it is a show bike that has been cobbled together out of old/crash damaged bits. I totally reckon the fact that it is hooked up to the back of a Fiat 500 as some kind of marketing gig, but I don't think that these guys climbing all over it and taking snaps was part of it!

x-MotoGP bikes end up crushed so that rival teams don't get their hands on the technology ... its not like Fiat Yamaha would just let one of their bikes loose for any fool to look at/nick .. and they are not so hard up they need to start carting stuff around on a trailer behind some old fiat!!

bearing in mind the secrecy of these bike, its funny how this dude supposedly 'tipped' these guys off it was under a blanket unguarded in a car park wasn't it ...

I could be wrong, but something smells more fishy than my 3 day old pants!!

I'd bet good mony that fiat Yamaha officals were looking on from afar, be it CCTV or in a darkened car ... as I said above MotoGP technology is kept closely guarded by the manufacturers you are not going to let a MotoGP bike far from sight

Be nice if they did flog these things off though wouldn't it. Can you just imagine turning up for a track day at Brands on it, might struggle to make the evening noise limit though!
