Default Re: riding in spain

well its 590miles direct to where i am going (its actually campillos im going to, just north of malaga near antequera) i dont really want to go too far off that corse as i want to do the journey in a day. my ferry arrives sunday morning at 08:00 and i would like to make it to my dads in time for dinner! lol
if i average 60miles per hour that will be perfect.
i do want to see some good scenery on the way, so i have tweaked my route through the mountains on the way, i was thinking of going through madrid for the experience.

to see my route, get directions from google maps and use these destinations, also set to avoid toll roads

san juan del rompeolas
najera
salas de los infantes
priego de cordoba
campillos

any suggestions?

Hehe...you'll be brave to drive in Madrid...I drove there once...hellish experience! It was crazy, at the red lights they were all tooting their horns...at green lights when traffic wasn't moving no-one was tooting...very strange!! If you go by the coast you should visit Valencia because it's a really nice city...I prefer it to Barcelona definately.

Thumbs up Re: riding in spain

Hi there, i have done part of the route that you are planning, the nothern parts are stunning you will enjoy the empty roads and better tarmac. Madrid can be a challenge especially around peak times, look out when filtering, it seems to be a concept they have not experienced before and pull out when they feel like it. The roads down to Malaga can just appear and not correlate with a map, so buy the latest version you can. The EU pumped a lot of money into Spain and they had to use it quick so some roads sprung outta nowhere. Highly recommend you take all of your docs, including your V5 make sure you guard them with your life and not leave them on the bike. Most of the police will only pull you for something that stands out, obey the rules if you spot one you should be set for a good trip....can recommend the eastern route back from Grenada up to the pyrenees, awesome long flowing twisties and fast straights.....i broke down on the way back and the AA euro cover was fab too so something to bear in mind have fun and go steady on the bends, they have a habit of getting tight!
