She's spent the money on a new fire and the house which you both live in? Oh the nerve!

Hovie - dear - she's offering the money. There's no need to beat her with the bl00dy end to get it.

I honestly probably wouldnt take it.

Like you say, you have provided for her all your life.

If I was to take any large sum of money from Kerry I would feel terrible, it just wouldnt feel right whether she could afford it or not. We both have our own money and pay for large things for ourself out of our own pocket, everything else is in the joint account.

Theres always the chance it could be thrown back in your face as well.

If she genuinely took your £2k for the fire place without asking you, or your approval then I would have been annoyed at the time and wouldnt feel bad about her repaying that back.

That's the important bit, don't worry about the other Trisha stuff.

You'll never hear the end of it if you accept!! Every conversation involving money in the future, it will come up!!

lol @ shonadoll!

From a woman's perspective I would say if you take her up on the offer it may get cast back to you at every opportunity - she may even try the old "no you can't do (insert own phrase here) cos I paid for the bike from MY money"
Safest bet would be to politely decline the offer but tell her she can replace the savings.

All just my little old opinion of course

Why shouldn't you let your wife buy your bike?

I bought the Duke

Mind you, I benefit from it too
