noise is the same when clutch pulled in.(so its not the clutch)
the noise is a constant knock, (not in time with the engine or rev's)
would class the knock as slow.

iv been told it could be a bearing (water pump, or clutch bearing)
and a few other people that have listened say it could be clearance of my shims, (like tappets or valve clearance)

iv been advised to do a service (oil oil filter and brakes) an not to worrie about the noise unless it gets worse.

oh i forgot to say the noise or knock is only on tick over (when the bike is idleing) as soon as there is force on the engine the noise goes away.

it goes away, all together.
there is also no loss in power or performance.

if i increase the rev's bit by bit the noise stays the same then goes away. (noise dosnot increase in speed or in volume it just goes away )

im going to service it this next wknd (check all the basic stuff, read somwhere on this forum that a loose spark plug could be rattleing so will check everything i can )

might attempt to check shim clearance (tappets depends on if i have to take the engine out )

would anyone know of any good garages around bedford that wouldnt mind listening to it.

Won't be tappets. You don't need to drop engine to adjust them.

Major bottom end problems usually show as a loud knocking or rumbling. I don't think this is your problem. I reckon somethings just loose.

thanks for all you help an advice.
if weather is good this coming wknd ill do the basic check and tighten things if they are loose. (check tank mounting spark plugs, an probably check the timing chain tensioner )

change the brake pads front an back, then oil an oil filter.

will repost if i come across anything before then.

but in the meantime if anyone has any other suggestions please feel free to add or comment

noise is a very misleading thing. And also if the tank is vibrating and creating this noise won't it just appear to travel down?

iv adjusted the cam chain tensioner (turned it clock wise an checked it was sprining back to position.) i turned it both ways clock wise an anti clock wise (extending and contracting the adjuster.)

the noise seems to have gone away i will take the bike out for a ride after dinner an let you all know if its there when i get back.
