i know its a silly question but do any lights come on when you turn ignition key? Could just be a flat battery if no lights.

Nope.. Managed to get the tank off tonight (at last!!), and have a multimeter at hand, so I'm going to take a few readings..
Longshot, especially with me in control

No better way to learn about your bike than to find, solve and fix problems!

How did you get the tank off in the end? Was that connetctor just corded as we talk about?

It will be so much easier to work on the bike now. Can I suggest that you write down everything that you have done, and checked and what connects to where and what. If your anything like me, my memory isn't great.

Then you now where you are at and should it go tits up again you own record what you have done to the bike. I will be doing that for all my bikes, I mean will you really remeber what you did in detail a year on from now? I won't so write it down!

Other than work through each part and system one bit at a time, I'm not free for a few w/ends now

Just thought I'd post an update.. Bike is working again, I think it must have been a loose connection, but I couldn't find where ...

You need to find out where as it may be a chaffing wire. It could short out again or may even cut right through the wire when your miles away from home.

Don't leave it to chance Josh, have a dig around and find the offending connection or wire!

Regards

I did have a look for about half an hour when the tank and fairings were off, but couldn't find anything

No! thankyou very much Bike was turning over but just woudn't fire, so

I wouldn't have a problem with admitting a mistake like that though, as I'm sure everyone's done something similar once in their bike career and it could help someone to fix a 'problem'
