Thank you guys for the advice, and thanks for making it slightly light hearted and funny so it's easier for me to accept! And, yea I do love riding, and I DO look cool when I ride to uni on her. hehe. I'll definately give it more serious thought before I make a decision. Sorry for my post, it was not meant to offend it was the vodka talking. If you can keep it do so, I had a similar dilemma last year but for different reasons, mine is a K4. I kept her and I am so pleased I did. I don't get my moneys worth out of her and I am sure she could have a better home but the few times I do ride her are worth more than not having her, does that make sense ???

Heya, no offense taken and vodka is goooood lol It's cool and I do love her. She's my baby and I will look after her the best I can. Still considerin at the moment tho. And yes, it makes perfect sense! Thank you for your input!!!

You are on a bikers forum so with all due respect you are not going to get impartial advice from people who love biking.
The question only you can answer is "can I afford to keep her". The depriaction is only going to get worse as time goes by so selling now would be more viable than say 6 months from now when you realise you can't afford the payments after all. You have got to also think about how much use you will get out of it over the winter months. If money is tight sell it now thus saving the payments, clear the finance and maybe take a small hit, but i doubt it and buy a good second hand one when the weather is better again in March. Uni is tough so don't let you heart rule your head.

Now see, I disagree with that. My sole reasoning for keeping the bike was financial, not emotional.

Again, I disagree.

The OP has stated that the bike isn't ridden much, so it will take depreciation for being second hand, but probably not for condition/mileage. For that reason alone, it will probably at least hold the value it has now.

Combined with colder months being worse times to sell bikes (most people go shopping for bikes in Spring), the bike will probably sell for more cash in a couple of months, than you would get now. Of course, this assumes a private sale, not a dealership.

If the bike is kept for a few months, more of the finance will be paid off, making it less pressure to sell the bike for £x later. Yes, the finance agreement will need paying until sale, but then, the owner will be getting some use from the bike during that time.

Basically, if you can't afford to keep it long term, keep it until spring, you'll get more money, and owe less on finance. If you keep it until spring, and realise you can afford to keep it, bonus.

Agreed, its the wrong time of year to sell a bike.

I haven't seen your sale thread (apologies), but selling privately? Well, Autumn vs Spring sales is probably worth a couple of hundred ££ easy.

Dealership sale? If you sell in later winter, the dealership will know he has a long Spring/Summer ahead to sell the bike, so will be willing to stretch a little more - for the right bike. Of course, if you choose to part-ex at a dealership, they'll be more willing to put their hand in their pocket.

I getchya. Well, I'm having to sell as work is sending me all over the shop for the next 6-12 months, so will not be part-ex'ing but selling privately. I should imagine a dealer would give a pretty awful price...
