Surely the pulling is a symptom of something else or behaviour he has leanred and thats what you need to fix.
I was a pup when I broke my arm last year, after my partner left I really struggled to walk him without doing me damage. I rebroke my arm more than once walking him hence why it took over 7 months to heal. I could feel it go as he pulled. I had to use both arms to control him so I do blame myself.

Dog classes have done nothing, they taught me to use a check chain which worked for a while, and certainly in the classes where he was a model dog. Then on a walk he would find something he liked and would shoot off. I have tgried to retrain him but I don't know where I am going wrong.

All Springer owners local to me are having the same issues and say its a breed problem.

Im with Dizzy on this - my old girl used to pull like a train - the Halti was the only thing that stopped her - they really respect it - absolutely the best investment I made

Shell I've had a Basset hound on a Halti, and if you think a SPringer can pull, you couldn't begin to imagine how hard a basset can. The halti stopped it, and he walked gently, so does Bob. I have two dogs to walk, both with Haltis both that pull on normal leads like trains, remember, bothe my shoulders are paggered, no muscles left in one of them, and I can handle them both with my bad arm at once

i really think you need to give him more discipline, Im not sure its Samson hun, it may be how you are with him chick

I will go and find one of those canac collars they look much better. I don't care how much it costs so if it doesnt work I will try the next thing. He has abour 5 different collars and harnesses as it is LOL. Bless him

And you are correct Dizzy it is me not Sam, I have no strength and after an hour I get tired and ratty. I never shout at him but he know he tires me out and then plays on it. I have had to run with him instead of walking as I can then keep up with him and it won't hurt him, keeps me fit but I can't run everywhere LOL

Thank you all xx

They are only about a tenner

The best thing you can do is to take him in the garden with the halti on, and walk him up and down, until he is at a point you are happy with, make it a game, if he behaves give him a biscuit and praise him for it, keep him focused on you, dogs like games and you have to be the intersting thing, not the smells in the garden. When you are happy he will do that in the garden, which may take a while, then take him out somewhere

God I have been watching far tooo much dog borstal...lol

now then, lol, its alright getting them to behave on a lead, but how the hell do you get em to come back
My two, if they see a dog in the distance run, Bob will come back but honey is going deaf in her old age( or is it selective deafness)

naughty doggies

I bought a 60ft dog lead, Sam was naughty and used to run to any dog and play. Some dog were not so nice and sometimes Sam was not so nice. I let him run around with this on and kept hold of it, letting him run about and have freedom but I still had him under a certain amount of control. When we play ball i let go of the lead totally but generally I can be 60ft behind him, tread on the lead and he stops. each time I stepped on it I used the same command followed by a blow on a whistle.

He has now learnt that the whistle and command mean come back, which 90% of the time he does.
