Im sure that adding the milk first will produce a differnent taste for many reasons. However, I fear that the notion of hot water 'burning' the 'beans' holds about as much truth as the idea that stirring tea in a certain direction will affect the flavour.

It's just another one of those myths that people hear and pass on without questioning the scientific logic of it.

I suspect that Warthog is right and you should put the milk in first to avoid scalding it.

I never drink instant coffee anyway, only proper ground coffee. Instant is vile.

Its all a load of tosh. Coffee is roasted at higher temperatures than water boils so the burning of the granules is a load of tosh.
Adding a large amount boiling water to a small amount of cold milk is no different than adding a small amount of milk to a large amount of boiling water. The result is the same.
Tis a load of tosh I tell thee.

I suspect this could well be a ghey discussion.

Has it ever bothered you before? And as for your mate, tell him to make it himself
