Hi everyone,

Wondered if I might update you on my London Marathon effort this year.

Firstly, a huge thank you to all those who have shown support both financially and with words of encouragement, it really has helped me to get out and run on days when I’ve felt like not bothering. I’m coming to the end of a long 6 month training programme that culminates with the marathon itself this coming Sunday.

I’ve been through 2 pairs of running shoes covering something like 400 miles or more, run in the hot sun, cold nights, rainy days and even on ice over the winter in 20mph gales getting drenched by waves from the river. All character building stuff that is behind me now ready for the big day. It’s been pretty tough but I feel better for it and really happy that I managed to stick to the training programme for nearly 6 months.

If you haven’t already it isn’t too late to help out. Just follow the link in my signature and make a donation if you wish, any amount would be welcome. The charity I am supporting, ‘Amy and friends’, have already benefitted from the donations that have been made and are making really good progress in establishing a community of doctors interested in pooling their expertise to assist these children.

You can track my progress live through the marathon here or by texting 'RUN' to 83040 from a WAP phone. My running number is 28887.

I’ll let you know how it went next week

Thanks again

Mike
