Naked SV with renthal bars. Stick with what you know, you can have a go on mine if you fancy it? Really good upright riding position comfortable and you already know about the SV performance. Failing that the Speed Tripple gets my vote

I'd go with the Street Triple. Mildy biased as I have a Daytona, but I have heard nothing but really great things about them. You should head over to www.triumph675.net if you have any specific questions - there is a striple section and they are a nice bunch.
![]() I wouldn't get hung up on the extreme oil consumption thing. A couple of the early Daytona engines blew but the journo's even admitted to never/rarely checking the oil - Their excuse being that they found that it used more than expected. I thrash mine pretty hard on track and and hasn't used a drop. Being a regular on the Triumph forum, I would also say that it is a very uncommon problem for most owners. Common problems (at least with the Daytona), is a weak battery (optimate would be a worthy buy) EXBV valve needing adjustment/seizing and rattly cam chains (though this one is questionable as to whether people have a problem, or just think they have a problem!) Rob,
If I was you I'd got for the street triple, at the end of the day it's a bike you can keep for the next few years and not out grow, yet still using it for what you want now. The KTM would be cool, but not the most practical thing, and you may get "bored" of it after a year or so, although you may love it. As for the Pegaso I reckon after a year back in the saddle you'd be wanting more pep in some form. So if you're happy to change bikes after only 1 year go for the Pegaso, if you want to keep the bike for a few years go Triumph. But give the KTM a test ride incase you love it! |

View from a know nothing....
It's the.. "Most expensive" and "Uses oil" stuff that puts me off the street triple Pegaso looks cool/ practical / bit boring after a while(?) & being a prilia what's it like for spares supply? KTM's edging into toy department territory ![]() So to sum up..... IMHO..... You suffer from multiple personality disorder ![]() Happy bike shopping ![]() |

I'd go for a Street Triple out of those three any time.

You know I probably do, and its funny that you've summed that up from the bikes ive listed.
I think that those 3 will probably complete the list. No offence to those who suggested an SV (it is an SV site the last time I looked) but how boring is it sticking with what you know? Yeah the SV was great, but after owning it for more than 3 years I think it would be the right time to move on to different bike. I knew the KTM would split opinion as I think its beauty is in its ugliness. Ive been on all 3 respective forums for these bikes and it looks like all of them do have the ability to tour. One guy disappeared over to Italy on the KTM while several have been to the alps on the Peg. The Striple has a good forum where theres plenty info. Im sure given a test ride, ill be able to make my mind up but still welcome opinions on the bikes. Im not sure if Ill be looking for more power. 70bhp on the SV was more than enough for the type of riding I was doing. I just dont want the bike to egg me on if you get what I mean. I feel that having a more racy position encourages me to ride quicker rather than enjoying the ride and the surroundings. |
