Well, I've been commuting in London for 14 years now and I'd have to say that I've had fewer problems with cyclists than with pedestrians, cars, taxis, white vans, buses and lorries. I see them as fellow two wheelers, even if they have forgotten to pack an engine. They're probably even more vulnerable than us, as we have decent leathers and lids to protect us.

now come on cyclists - those who wear the gear and actually behave semi responsibly normaly seen wearing lycra and helmets and peddling like no 2moro - can also be found in large packs when they can usually cause some irritation

anything else is merely a bike rider and should be avoided at all costs as they have nor regard for anyone except themselves

Some reports say it is only red route bus lanes that are being opened to us.Worth being a bit careful before we all end up bankrupted by sneaky fines for going in the wrong bus lane.

Yes, I think that we're going to need to be careful and watch the signs. I read that this only applies to bus lanes operated by TfL. I'm not sure which bus lanes are and which aren't.

Official site: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/fine...ons/10151.aspx has PDF doc showing which bus lanes are affected.

I can only hope that we don't get a surge in muppets causing problems in the bus lanes, resulting in all of us being booted out at the end of 18 months. Likewise, I think there might be more than a few collisions caused by bikers not twigging to traffic in the other lane letting people turn right - I've seen a few near misses along Commercial Road as a result of this.

Well, SoulKiss suffered a head on with a RangeRover in this situation.

As for cyclists, I ride (on my motorcycle) Fulham road every day to work and back and at every set of pedestrian lights, at least 1 cyclist just flies straight through a red. Blatantly disregarding the law and the pedestrians the crossing is set out to protect.

I know that pedestrians are not too bright and are to be regarded with utmost care, but they do not break the law outrigt at every opportunity at high speed.

I am far more fearful of cyclists than pedestrians. I think they should be more heavily punished for their shenanigans.

Back on topic, very happy with any bus lane access allowed!

i am one of those people who will ride on the pavement sometimes. but only when the road is a nasty busy one. and i am not going to get off my bike otherwise what would be the point in having it! i just ride fairly slow and carefully.
