I'd be interested in this too (just ordered my 360 Elite ). I'd also like to use the TV concerned as a 'monitor' for my laptop too (ideally with both connected at the same time and switching between them via AV or similar). I'm still undecided as to the size, but if I were to go for a 22" flatscreen monitor with HDMI in, is there any reason why this would not be as good as a TV (other than the screen size) for playing the 360 on? TIA.

plasma will be smoother and has usually better definition in black and greyscale areas but they don't enjoy static images like HUDs in some games and could damage the screen in a long game (over 2 hours).

LCDs are much tougher but tend to refresh slightly slower so can look juddery (though newer ones are much better at this)

in 32" everything will be LCD for cost reasons though, that said on a smaller screen the refresh problem is much less noticable.

Best value will be the usual LG and Samsung offerings

Panasonic. Toshiba and Sony will cost a bit more and in some cases will perform slightly better (not much though) and dont forget some of the premium brands use internals from other companies too.

My advice would be Samsung for games, good connectivity, cheapish, look smart and expensive, tend to be reliable.

I just got me a 1080P 37" LG for £520 from overclockers.co.uk. And it's awesome!!!

You should be able to find a 32" for £400 or thereabout easy on there.

Sounds good. Have you tried running a PC through it yet? If so, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on it.

Not yet, I was thinking of building a Linux server to link up to it, but I have had the xbox running. So it should be the same, though the website recommended 1024 x 768 @ 60Hz, (up to 1280 x 768 @ 60Hz). All I can say is that Star Wars - The Force Unleashed, looked bloody sweet on it. Even the Mirrors Edge demo looked just lovely, might think about buying that one.

No it isn't. Though it should be able to accept a 1080p signal and downscale.

Is it not? How can you tell? I plugged in the xbox and it took 1080p signal, though I haven't read the manual to see if it does 'downscale' the signal.

The resolution of the TV is 1366×768 pixels. 1080p is 1920x1080. The TV is accepting the 1080p signal from the xbox and downscaling it to 1366x768.

1920x1080 is 2073600 pixels. 1366x768 is 1049088 pixels.
So your TV is only displaying 50% of the pixels that the xbox is producing.

It should still look very good though.

I, on the other hand, have a TV that can display 1920x1080 pixels, and a Nintendo Wii that only outputs 720x480 pixels. So I get a really crap picture.
