the coils arent getting anything. the crank sensor is and seems to be ok. the coils do have proper ground to frame, all of the electricals have cleen terminals and seem to be connected well. the diagram is a no go, any place to download w/o costing a fortune? thanks.

i read another thread about a spedo conv. with a magnetic pickup on the rear wheel. what's with the curvy/pointy? and will this work on my friends jollopy when we get that far?

Yes will work for speedo. Curvy is 99-02, pointy is the 03 onwards bike

You need to follow it back through loom, I'd guess that something like the sidestand switch or relay isn't behaving itself.

yep,if it was designed to be 650 in first place rod bearing would not seize on 99 and cranks would not break on half

What did they change to eliminate the bigend failures?

Got 2 99 engines here, both with that problem (spun bearing, f#cked crank), but no signs of oil starvation elsewhere.
