Well true. E marked bulbs are meant to made to a reference standard, so that the filament is in the same place when a bulb is changed and the light source is at the point in the lamp manufacturer designed it to be. Therefore both bulbs should work the same in the same lamp - however manufacturing tolerances probably mean this is not always the case. Makers like Philips and Osram should make their bulbs closer to the standard than £5 jobbies from Ebay and give more consistent results.

Surely these are just similar products from competing companies - I reckon you would be hard pushed to tell the differene so just buy on price.

Thanks guys!!
I shall work on buying the cheapest osrams or philips.
If i'm able to afford it, might buy both and try a comparison.

I first switched from the OE boggo Osrams in my car to Silverstars when they came out a few years ago, and they were a definite improvement, not startling but worth the price.

When the next generation came out I swapped to Phillips Xtreme Power and they were a sinmilar improvement again, so I'd say definitely recommended especially at the price you can get them for on fleabay, somewhere in the £15 bracket a pair.

Not had one fail yet, bike or car.

Whoevers had 3 bulbs blow I'd suggest there's something else up with the wiring. I recommend osram nightbreakers as they're next best thing to HID
